Doucoure announces he will leave Toffees this summer

Abdoulaye Doucoure has announced he will leave Everton when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Doucoure scored 21 goals for Everton, including a memorable winner in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on the final day of the 2022-23 season.

He will leave the club along with Ashley Young and goalkeepers Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia, while striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, midfielder Idrissa Gueye and defender Michael Keane are all out of contract this summer.

In a video posted on social media, Doucoure said: “Hello Evertonians, I just wanted to let you know that I will be leaving the club at the end of the season.”

“After five great years, my time at Everton has come to an end.”

“Everton means a lot to me. Of course the last five years have been difficult, but I will always remember this time as my dream to play for Everton.”

“Of course I am sad to leave the club, but I think it’s time for a new chapter for me and the club and I will always be grateful for what the club has done for me.”

“My best memory, I would say, is the goal I scored against Bournemouth to keep the club in the Premier League. I think it’s something I’ll always be proud of. It was a great moment for me and my family and for the club as well.”
